Your domain needs to point to either google or your server, it can't be both. You can't split where the mail delivery goes.

If google knows to send some emails to your server, you need to click on edit dns zone in cpanel and select the option for local mail server at the bottom.

Is the domain listed in /etc/localdomains or /etc/remotedomains on the server?

I managed to solve the problem using the following steps: Setting the mail server to local Setting up dual delivery in Gmail. Setting up forwarders from webmail accounts to gmail test emails to make sure gmail accounts gets all the mail. Thank you everyone for your replies
