Stop cPanel from creating subdomain

Hello, Is it possible to stop the creation of "www." when I create "" ? For example, if I create a subdomain "dev", cPanel also creates a "www.dev" subdomain. If not possible to disable, is it possible to clean-up after? (besides manually editing the DNS zone) Thank you.
