Backup Configuration - Additional Destination
Hi Guys,
I setup cpanel v80.0.14 backup to an additional destination (SFTP). The remote server is fine and validated. I would like to know, how does the cpanel transfer the backups to the remote server? Is it one by one, right after a backup compression is completed? Or it will need to finish all compression task before it transfers the backups?
other notes:
Retain Backups in the Default Backup Directory - This is off
Backup Type - Compressed
Looking forward to your help. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure the way this currently works is that when the first account is done, it is queued up for remote transport, but then the backup process moves on to the next account, so depending on the size of the backup, transfer speed, etc, you may get several accounts still there locally as the transfer process tries to catch up with the backup process. The backup is not removed locally until the remote transfer is complete. Anyone feel free to correct me if I have this wrong though. 0 -
Hello @froi-manila, The information provided by @GOT in the above post is correct. The backup process and the transfer process use separate queues. If each backup completes much faster than each transfer, backup files can accumulate on the server and fill the hard drive until the transfer process finishes. The best approach for conserving disk space on the local cPanel & WHM server is to use Incremental Backups with the Rsync remote backup destination type. You can read more about this on the link below: Queue backups for Upload to FTP destinations 0
