SSL Setup for subdomains across accounts

I am trying to setup the following. I have a master account for example.com. It has cPanel provided SSL cert ? I have user accounts with subdomains of example.com (allowed in tweak settings) so for example user1.example.com ? The cPanel supplied SSL cert for the site at user1.example.com throws a warning in browser. How can I make this setup work properly?

  What does the error messages say?

  Along with what the error message is, does the SSL cover the domain that it's installed for?

  These seem to be fixed by a reconfiguration of DNS. Thank you.
