Removing DNSonly servers, how to proceed?
Hi,
I have merged cPanel standalone servers and no longer require my DNS only servers, how do I proceed in safe way and with no disruption for my customers websites?
Under service manager I have enabled cPanel DNS admin cache.
- Name server selection: choose BIND.
- Enable the DNS server and Name Service Cache Daemon.
- remove the server out of the dns cluster.
- disable the cluster
Is that the right order and action to have the server back in control?
Thanks for your time.

Hello @Wabun, Those are the correct steps, however you should also check the name server IP addresses associated with your name servers at your domain registrar. For instance, let's say all of your domains use name servers like this at their registrars: [QUOTE]ns1.host.tld ns2.host.tld
For those name servers to continue working, you must access host.tld's domain registrar's admin interface and ensure the IP addresses associated with your cPanel & WHM server are used for the name servers. Otherwise, if the name servers are still assigned IP addresses associated with the terminated DNS-Only servers, then DNS will stop working. Step 6 of the document below provides information on how to make this change: How to Set Up Nameservers in a cPanel Environment - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation Thank you.0 -
