Directory Privacy/Password Protect not working
Hi,
I'm facing a weird problem on a server, where the Directory Privacy/Directory Password Protect is not working, it will not launch the login window in the browser, even opening a new anonymous session in a different (not used in this page before) browser.
I tried several suggestion from this forum and Google without success:
1) create the user first and then activate the directory protection
2) add the ErrorDocument 401 "Authorisation Required" to the .htaccess file
3) manually create the .htaccess and .htpasswd directly from the command line
4) tried on different accounts to see if it was specific account issue, even one clean account without website, only a dummy index.html
Can't get this to work in anyway...
Any suggestions?

Hello @nixuser , Yes, this problem was reported by one of our clients. We then tried to replicate the issue using the cPanel and confirmed the issue. Tried a few other ways to make it work and solve the client problem and didn't get it to work even editing diretly the .htaccess/.htpasswd (for debuging only, we wish to use cPanel for this). Also checked if AllowOverride AuthConfig was in httpd.conf and it is... can't figure this out... Cheers, Hugo Ferreira 0 -
Hello @cPanelMichael , As requested I've opened an ticket with number 12916905. Before opening this ticket I testeted on another server to check if the problem was only on this server. The problem also happens on the second server I tested, all in the ticket. Cheers, Hugo Ferreira 0 -
Hello, To update, it looks like this was the result of a custom Apache include file in the /etc/apache2/conf.d/ directory containing rules that conflicted with the Directory Privacy feature. Thank you. 0
