Create backup of website?

I have a cpanel for my website that does not have a back up or wizards button and I am interested in changing hosting services. I also use AbanteCart and making a backup for that is easy. How can I make a copy of my website since the hosting service does not seem interested in doing it. Thanks for your help and advice. Jim

    Hi Jim, Since your current provider not interested in giving Backup or its feature within the panel, then the best option would be compressing the root folder of your site via cPanel's FileManager interface and also export the database associated to the site through phpMyAdmin interface and pass it onto your new hosting provider there. Note: This will not include the emails associated with your domain name. Here are the steps if you are not familiar: To compress the folder: - Right click on the folder name where your site's files resides on and select 'Compress' option. - Then select "Zip Archive", and click on "Compress File(s)" button on the popup window to create the archive file - Once completed, right click on the new compressed Zip file, and select "Download" to download it to your local computer To export a database through phpMyAdmin: - On the left of phpMyAdmin interface, click the database from which you"d like to export the tables - At the top, click "Export", choose 'Quick' and select 'SQL' format and click 'Go' button - The SQL file containing your databases tables will then download to your computer Once you get both archives, upload it to your new providers panel and ask them to restore from it (that will do by their team usually).     Hi Jim, Backing up with cPanel is easy. if you are hosting on a server with the cPanel control panel installed: Log into your cPanel control panel. Click on the "Backup" icon. Select "Generate / Download a Full Backup". Select "Home Directory" in "Backup Destination" and enter your email address, before clicking the "Generate Backup" button. You'll receive an email when the backup is ready. But here's the important thing: make sure you download the backup to your computer and keep it stored safely. You must remember to back up frequently and keep the backup files in a safe place. If your backups are stored on your server and your server goes down, you are essentially left without a backup. Backing up to the cloud A cloud solution is the perfect place to keep a backup. It's ever-expanding and with most systems, is backed up and fully redundant. Solutions for backing up to a cloud include: Amazon S3: the grandmasterfunk of all cloud solutions. But getting your data onto S3 requires some thinking and will require installing server software, if you have access to do so (for example: CloudBerry Backup Server Edition for Windows users). Failing that, there are tools out there for many platforms, designed to get your data onto S3. For example, Wordpress users who can't install software on their server, may like to look into Backup Buddy, a WordPress plugin that backs up to Amazon S3. Give this a try and post back with the errors you have identified and we shall try to resolve it.

    @ganesankittan Unfortunately, he doesn't have the backup or backup wizard features available as noted in his initial post so what you're suggesting wouldn't work for him.
