SPAMD down on large emails
Hi all,
i have noticed when one of my clients sends a large email (1 email with 20+ recipients) spamd crashes for about 30 minutes and then recovers itself.
I have tried this myself with one of my email accounts and the same thing happens.
i have checked system resources at the time this happens and everything appears ok. This is the only thing that fails too.

i am also running a fully up-to-date cpanel/whm and centos 7 on a VPS 0 -
Is anything noted in the spamd errors log when this occurs? /usr/local/cpanel/logs/spamd_error_log0 -
spamd: fork: Cannot allocate memory at /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/spamd line 1434 this is the only thing i can see I can provide more which is either side of this line if needed I checked the memory at this time also and there was 3gb free at this time 0 -
I have just checked the mail delivery in WHM and on that exact minute there was 9 emails received from Direct.gov to my own personal account. all of which are mainly text other than the logo and other usual parts. 0 -
I have just got this too via email. not sure if its related Can't exec "/usr/sbin/modsec-sdbm-util": Cannot allocate memory at /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/shrink_modsec_ip_database line 75. 0 -
What do you have set in WHM>>Server Configuration>>Tweak Settings -> Conserve memory Conserve memory at the expense of more CPU usage and disk I/O. Max cPanel process memory (Minimum: 4,096) The maximum memory a cPanel process can use before it is killed off. This setting"s minimum value depends on the number of cPanel accounts on the system. 0 -
hi @cPanelLauren Conserve memory is disabled Max cPanel process memory is set to unlimited 0 -
This pretty clearly states that you're running out of memory though and not just with spamd. It's not a memory allocation issue since Max cPanel Process memory is unlimited and conserve memory is disabled. How are you determining the amount of memory you had free at the time of the error with spamd? Do you see out of memory related errors in /var/log/messages
as well?0
