crond FAILED to open PAM security session (Permission denied)
Hi,
Yesterday, I noticed that cron Jobs stopped working.
/var/log/cron logs:
crond[13653]: (root) FAILED to open PAM security session (Permission denied)
crond[13860]: (root) PAM ERROR (Permission denied)
crond[13861]: (myuser) PAM ERROR (Permission denied)
crond[13861]: (myuser) FAILED to open PAM security session (Permission denied)
/var/log/secure logs:
crond[15477]: PAM (crond) illegal module type: lcredit=-1
crond[15477]: PAM (crond) no control flag supplied
crond[15477]: PAM (crond) no module name supplied
I tried every solution I found online but nothing worked, including:
- changed password
- checked if password is not expired
- amended /etc/security/access.conf
- disabled SELinux
- check cron.allow and cron.deny
