Update blocked for DNS-Only server. (CentOS 6.10 / Cpanel 56.0)

Hello, We have an old cpanel "DNS-Only" nameserver that is currently running cpanel v56 on CentOS 6.10. Cpanel can't be upgraded, because the OS is too old. So it seems we must upgrade to CentOS 7. This nameserver is one of four cpanel DNS-Only nameservers that are connected as a DNS Cluster to all our web servers. (ns1/ns2/ns3/ns4 -- This server is "ns1".) Can you tell me what is the process to do this upgrade? My concern is how to sync the zonefiles from the other nameservers in the DNS Cluster, after the OS upgrade is completed. Here is what I am planning:
  • Re-image the server with a fresh installation of CentOS 7.
  • Install fresh cpanel DNS-Only version.
  • Log into each cpanel web server that uses this nameserver, click the "DNS Cluster" link, and re-add this nameserver using DNS Role of "Synchronize Changes".
  • Sync all the zonefiles from the other nameservers in the DNS Cluster.
It is step #4 that I don't know how to do. Can anyone tell me what is needed to get all the zonefiles onto the nameserver after it's ready? Thanks!

    In the top right corner of our cpanel we see this message: [QUOTE]The last attempt to update cPanel & WHM was blocked. Details
    I click the details link, and here is the reason: [QUOTE] Reasons for blocked updates. Please correct these issues and rerun updates. fatal: Newer releases of cPanel & WHM are not compatible with your operating system. Upgrade your OS, or use the Update Preferences screen to select a Long-Term Support release for use with your OS. Please see our OS End of Life policy for more information.
    When I click the "Update Preferences" screen, it does nothing. Is it not possible to update a DNS-Only server running CentOS 6 to latest version of cpanel?

    If you are on V56 are you sure you're on CentOS V6? V56 (from memory) was the last version on CentOS V5.

    Yes, this is what the top right corner of the cpanel DNS-Only says: [QUOTE]CENTOS 6.10 i686 virtuozzo " ns1 WHM 56.0 (build 52)
    It's definitely CentOS 6.10. Any ideas what to do to fix this? If cpanel doesn't recognize CentOS 6, what should I do?

    Hi, I'm guessing your operating system is 32-bit. We stopped supporting 32-bit versions of CentOS with cPanel & WHM version 11.56. You'll need to convert to an x86-64 server to use a version newer than 11.56.

    Logging into the webservers and running a manual sync would be sufficient for this - this will also take place automatically once it's added to the cluster. We have some great documentation on how to manage DNS servers here: DNS Cluster - Version 82 Documentation - cPanel Documentation
