What do I enter for NS when using cPanel & WHM on the DigitalOcean® Marketplace?
Hello,
I have used the image of cPanel & WHM on DO and followed the tutorial that said to leave NS fields unchanged.
The problem was that they where empty.
Then I manually entered them into the settings and I was getting errors.
I have pointed my domain to use them as well.
Waited 24hrs and I saw they where set for the domain, yet no records in them for it.
When I add records into the WHM section for it it does not update anything. I try to manually update the DNS records and still no progress.
Then I decided to test and enter the IP of the cPanel & WHM server (thinking it is a name server), but apparently it is not as I get error and it does not allow me to set it to the domain.
What am I missing and how to set it to work, as I feel unable to set the server at all :(
Updated post:
Hello,
I have created new droplet using the stock image of cPanel & WHM from the marketplace.
In the instructions there is stated that on start I should not edit the NS records in order to use DO NS.
But the fields where empty, so I saw error once I logged into the cPanel.
Then I decided to set some nameservers.
I did try to enter DO NS and then tried to enter the IP of the droplet (thinking it has NS functions, but I saw it did not.
Here is the info of the installation:
I have set the default option for NS services (BIND). in Nameserver Record Report: I have the zone info visible, but it does not propagate to the set NS. I have tried to do it manually yet no update. Please let me know what I am doing wrong and how to enable the NS function of the server, or what to do in order to have DNS records propagated.
/etc/redhat-release:CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908 (Core)
/usr/local/cpanel/version:11.82.0.17
/var/cpanel/envtype:kvm
CPANEL=release

Hello @1337-Fail, Following-up to see if you were able to open a support ticket. Thanks! 0 -
Not sure how to set that. 0 -
Hi @1337-Fail As mentioned by @cPanelMichael I'm sorry to see you're having some difficulty with your DigitalOcean Droplet. We're working on making this a really smooth process for users which is why we initially requested you open a ticket. After reading through the issue you're running into we noticed a couple of issues, the biggest one being how to manage your DNS when you're using DigitalOcean's nameservers. DigitalOcean provides a DNS hosting service, and when you set your nameservers to use theirs, you're using their DNS Hosting. This means that changes you make to your DNS locally will not have any effect on the domain. This is why you're making changes and nothing appears to be happening. The DNS changes in this circumstance need to be done in DigitalOcean's interface, not from the cPanel droplet. If you were using your own nameservers that resolve to the server (such as custom nameservers) you would make DNS changes on the droplet. We chose to set this up in this manner to expedite setup and provide quick and efficient provisioning of your domain after you set up the droplet. They have a really great guide on getting started with DNS here: Domains and DNS :: DigitalOcean Product Documentation please feel free to ask any questions you might have. For the other portion of the issue that this brought to light, DigitalOcean's nameservers were not automatically present in the setup which is why we were suggesting you open a ticket with us. We would still really like for you to open a ticket and you can do so using the link in my signature. Some of the things we were curious about are: - What browser are you using?
- What Operating System are you using?

Your Support Request ID is: 13690425
I use Windows 7 and I use Brave browser as well as Chrome. This is new install and I see they have updated the info in regards of the nameservers settings. I need the option in witch the DNS will be managed by cPannel. Thanks for the help and hope you will be able to help me set it up soon.0 -
If you want to have your DNS hosted on the cPanel server, it's a bit different than what the guide provides in terms of instructions. The documentation here How to Set Up Nameservers in a cPanel Environment - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation goes over how to set up your nameservers step by step. Let me know if you run into any complications with it and thank you for opening the ticket. 0
