Need help with 301 redirect

Hello all. I created a 301 redirect for example: mail.example.com to example.com that redirect works fine. But if I browse mail.example.com/products it doesn"t redirect to example.com/products. I know that there is a .htaccess but what to type change there? Someone know what could be the issue? Would be very grateful if someone can help me :) Thanks a lot!
