Is deprecation of php 5.6 coming?
Hello,
We are reading news about the 84 release and you state, that PHP 5.6 and PHP 7.0 will be marked as deprecated and will be removed in future releases.
We know, that these versions are old by the latest standards and are not maintained and may be vulnerable. But the fact is - we serve our customers and provide them with hosting service, letting them run and maintain their systems themselves. If their accounts are hacked, we, of course, close them and inform and make them do required updates, cleanup and stuff like that. But if everything runs fine - we see no legal obligation to force them to newer versions or updates - please understand, that I talk about people, who use some old functions and scripts, that are not working with PHP 7.2 or 7.3. Therefore we are a little bit worried, that support of 5.6 and 7.0 might suddenly stop. Please enlighten us with the procedures of how this will happen.
What will happen with current installations? Will it be automatically converted to newer PHP version and old versions will simply disappear? Will we have option to keep old versions running? Especially on those servers, where we have them?
I understand intention of cPanel to only offer what is safe and secure, but it's not cPanel, who sells hosting and provides support to end-users. For us - cPanel is just a tool, which helps us do our business - help our customers do their business. We want to know our tool and rely on it in a long term. And this year we have already had many moments, when this confidence have been shaken a lot.
