[CPANEL-30335] How to upgrade Roundcube in WHM v84
Hello,
These are my server details:
I've tried running
but looks like the update-roundcube script is removed from the binaries. Is there any way I can upgrade to Roundcube 1.4.x. I don't mind upgrading the WHM version as well if that is possible. Appreciate any suggestions as to how to proceed.
/etc/redhat-release:CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908 (Core)
/usr/local/cpanel/version:11.84.0.19
/var/cpanel/envtype:kvm
CPANEL=release
I've tried running
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/update-roundcube --force
but looks like the update-roundcube script is removed from the binaries. Is there any way I can upgrade to Roundcube 1.4.x. I don't mind upgrading the WHM version as well if that is possible. Appreciate any suggestions as to how to proceed.

cPanel uses cPanel roundcube a customized RPM built to work with cPanel/WHM. If you wanted to install a different version of roundcube it'd be a completely manual process and I'm unsure of the implications it would have on the cPanel specific roundcube implementation. You might check here: roundcube/roundcubemail for more information. 0 -
@cPanelLauren any information on when RoundCube 1.4 will be released for cPanel? 0 -
I don't have any information on when this will be completed right now, but there is a case open for it - CPANEL-30335. I will update this thread when the case is updated. 0 -
This should become a priority. Do you guys not have enough developers on staff? 0 -
Agreed, I would love this update. RoundCube is now on version 1.4.2 and the version shipped with cPanel is archaic. A little extra transparency on the status of features would be much appreciated :) 0 -

I don't see why it should be a priority over so many other things. An upgrade of an already functioning webmail software wouldn't be high on my priority-list either.0 -
This is a priority because it is a big upgrade on the roundcube interface where we can provide a better more modern experience for customers' webmail alternatives. Since the ridiculous price changes which didn't even reflect the actual original "silent" announcement post, we should be getting every recent stable release of everything. It's 300% percent increase in prices should reflect the readiness of every aspect of the software. We shouldn't have to beg for these simple stuff. Plesk on the other hands has some limitations on the e-mail server management but other than that they always provide updates and it is working with system rpms. Whatever i hope this gets fixed soon but if i can find an (GUI wise) equal or better mail server control panel i 'm done with cpanel. 0 -

The development process is not immediate, regardless of pricing changes or anything else. When a 3rd party vendor releases a product update it has to be integrated into a sprint. In this instance, they released this towards the middle/end of the 3rd quarter after v86 was already being completed but in time for inclusion in the next iteration, cPanel & WHM v88. This is still expected to be included for v88 of cPanel & WHM. For issues regarding the pricing changes I'd advise you to discuss this with your account manager further or ='cs@cpanel.net'>Customer Service, this is not the appropriate venue for that as it's not a technical issue and there's no further insight we can provide you here beyond what we've already provided in other threads, which makes the conversation non-productive.0 -

When will the RoundCube 1.4 version be installed on cPanel ? because my clients want to access their webmail on mobile. My web host is PlanetHoster0 -
This is updated in v88! 88 Release Notes | cPanel & WHM Documentation - I've been using it on edge for some time now and it looks fantastic :) 0 -
One of the limitations of shared hosting is that you don't necessarily have control over the version of the software that you use. cPanel & WHM v88 is considered to be in EDGE at this time which does mean it's not recommended for use in production. We're looking at moving it to RELEASE at the beginning of May. Your provider could customize the installation of Roundcube but that would be up to them. Instructions to this would be found here: How to Customize Roundcube Webmail | cPanel & WHM Documentation 0 -
Thank you Lauren for your detailed answer. On the other hand, is there a simple trick to make Roundcube responsive without having total control of the software? For example, adding an external style sheet.. I want your advice for my clients who want to consult their emails from the administration interface of their websites through a responsive webmail. Thanks for your help 0 -
Hi @imedzhir, As far as I am aware, no there is not at this time. You'd need root access to the system to implement any form of customization for webmail. 0 -

Are there any updates about the release date for this? I am eager to have an updated Roundcube for my clients mobile use.0 -
This is currently in CURRENT you can view the release information here The Hosting Platform of Choice | cPanel Release Highlights | cPanel, L.L.C. 0
