Best server settings for HG Enterprise dedicated server (Maxrequestworkers, min/max spare servers, etc.)

I am trying to configure a HostGator Enterprise dedicated server which has 8 cores/16 threads/32gb RAM to be able to handle high traffic spikes. Site went down with a maxrequestworkers setting of 150, so support upped it to 500 and enabled KeepAlive which brought the site up, but still worried that traffic spikes could cause issues again so want to ask for advice on the best possible values for maxrequestworkers, min/max spare servers, etc. Read that the values need to be in the correct ratios, so hoping someone could provide specific values for each they think would optimize our server to handle 100k to 250k potential visits in a short amount of time. Current settings: Start servers: 10 Min spare servers: 10 Max spare servers: 20 Server limit: 1000 Max Request Workers: 500 Max connections per child: 10000 Keep-Alive: On Keep-Alive Timeout: 3 Max Keep-Alive Requests: 100 Timeout: 60 Really appreciate your advice.

  This really would be a case by case basis which is determined based on your traffic. There's no one right answer for this. You might look at Benchmarking apache using Ab ab - Apache HTTP server benchmarking tool - Apache HTTP Server Version 2.4 then making configuration changes based on the results.

  Traffic is 30k to 100k visits daily, with traffic spikes of possible 250k within a few hours. What would we set min/max spare server value settings to if we were to increase maxrequestworkers to 1000 or 1500?
