    Would like to suggest you that go with hardware RAID-10 instead of raid-5. Raid-10 is having good reading and writing performance. Further start with 2x960gb then add more hdds in future as per the need.

    Without knowing your workloads, this is basically guesswork. Do you current servers show any disk IO issues? If not, then having two independent drive channels (2 x RAID 1) may give you some more flexibility in terms of deployments. For example, but low traffic sites and your database on one RAID while your system and other sites are on the other. One of our customers actually uses multiple RAID 1's. One for the OS, one for the DB and one each for the /home#. (Their boxes hold 8 disks).
