Server suggestion
Hello guys i need a suggestion, below my actual configuration.
I have two dedicated server on cpanel cluster.
1. Xeon V5 with 32gb ram and 3 x 256gb ssd raid 5, 150 account hosted, litespeed and 90% disk used, ram used 6gb
2. Xeon V5 with 64gb ram, 2 x 512gb nvme raind1, 20 account hosted, litespeed and 15% disk used.
Now i want to merge both into new one :
Xeon E-2176G, 64gb ram, 2x960gb nvme datacenter edition, but i want to upgrade with other 2x960gb nvme because i need more space.
Is better to use
raid 5 with 4 disk or
2x960gb raid1 for /home
and 2x960gb raid1 for /home2 ?
Thanks for help

Would like to suggest you that go with hardware RAID-10 instead of raid-5. Raid-10 is having good reading and writing performance. Further start with 2x960gb then add more hdds in future as per the need. 0 -
Without knowing your workloads, this is basically guesswork. Do you current servers show any disk IO issues? If not, then having two independent drive channels (2 x RAID 1) may give you some more flexibility in terms of deployments. For example, but low traffic sites and your database on one RAID while your system and other sites are on the other. One of our customers actually uses multiple RAID 1's. One for the OS, one for the DB and one each for the /home#. (Their boxes hold 8 disks). 0 -
The suggestions here in regard to this question are definitely going to be helpful for getting an idea of what works best for others but ultimately this is a system administration question and should be answered after an evaluation of your needs and performance by a system administrator. If you don't have one you might find one here: System Administration Services 0
