Printer Scan to email
Hi all,
I have a strange issue. The mail server are working great in my server but i have a client that call me telling that the main printer that is connected to business network dont send scans to email, raising an error. Diging the issue, i went to "Security" tab in "WHM Home " Service Configuration " Exim Configuration Manager" and disable "Require clients to connect with SSL or issue the STARTTLS command before they are allowed to authenticate with the server." and the printer start sending the scans to email perfectly!
Is something that i can do to resolve the issue without disable the "Require clients to connect with SSL or issue the STARTTLS command before they are allowed to authenticate with the server." ? Because i dont want disable globaly this security option only for that issue!
Thanks in advance.

It's worth them checking if their printer has a firmware update - often they will introduce new features such as SSL for e-mail if it's an older model. Without dropping security ( which i wouldn't advocate), there're not much you can do about that from your perspective. They could consider using an SMTP server from their ISP otherwise if one is provided - these normally allow plain text authentication. 0 -

What's noted in the logs when this is enabled and the printer attempts to connect? I'd wager that @PenguinInternet's suggestion is correct and the log file output would confirm this. You can see the exim logs at/var/log/exim_mainlog0
