Account Switch Dropdown
Hi,
I have my own VPS with WHM/cPanel (CENTOS 7.8 kvm v86.0.21). I have the only root access account. There are no resellers and there are no accounts with the same password as the root. I used to be able to switch cPanel accounts but that dropdown has now disappeared and I don't know what caused it.
After many hours of investigation I'm told there is a setting called "Disable login with root or reseller password into the users' cPanel interface. Also disable switch account dropdown in themes with switch account feature." which is available in WHM -> Tweak settings -> Settings. However that doesn't exist in my set up.
Any ideas how I can get the dropdown back again? Many thanks.
About 5 second before I was going to post this message, I logged off and logged on again and lo and behold the Switch Account Dropdown is now available again! BUT the "Disable login with root or reseller password into the users' cPanel interface. Also disable switch account dropdown in themes with switch account feature." is still not available in WHM -> Tweak settings -> Settings.
I search a bit more and came across this thread:
It makes sense and there could have a been a duplicate password in one of the accounts - I don't think so but I concede there could have been. However, it still doesn't explain why the Tweak Settings -> Settings option is missing. Would love to know what's going on - any thoughts/comments on why it's missing and more importantly how can I get it back again?

That option doesn't exist in tweak settings and I've not seen it. Where did you see this? The only time when you should have the dropdown is if you're logged into the cPanel user's account with the root or reseller (a reseller that owns the account) password. 0 -
There seems to a bit of confusion over this feature... there are a number of threads referring to the tweak system settings: I now get what the behaviour is/should be but it is an error that it disappears if there is a duplicate password on the root account and/or a reseller account as there is no way to see this in an obvious way. Additionally, this is a feature (regardless whether it works or not) and therefore should be available to the owner to turn on/off and as such should be an option under the Tweaks... System... setting. Perhaps it should be a development request which can also address how/why the duplicate password issue occurs and also correct that. 0 -
These threads are 10 years old. This feature hasn't existed for as long as I've used cPanel or even worked here! Maybe it was present in tweak settings 10 years ago but it's not nor has it been in some time. I don't see the duplicate password issue in the same way, I don't believe. Say I as the root user decided to throw caution to the wind and make my password as well as those of all my cPanel accounts "Password" until they change their passwords the users would with this feature still existing potentially be able to switch between any other account because they share the root password - this would pose a HUGE security risk. 0
