New problem with forwarders leaving mail copy in catchall
Hello,
Until this week forwarders were working correctly, but suddenly I have this problem. My host was no help trying to resolve the issue. I will try and explain my situation:
- catchall@myDomain.com and realAccouunt@myDomain.com are BOTH real accounts
- nonAccountMail@myDomain.com does NOT have an account
- Default mail is set up to forward to catchall@myDomain.com
- Forwarder is set to forward email from nonAccountMail@myDomain.com to realAccouunt@myDomain.com
- There is only ONE forwarder configured for nonAccountMail@myDomain.com
- I don't have any rules or filters in place - also tested with my mail client turned off and using ONLY webmail
-
Hello, I tested this by doing the following: - cPanel>>Email>>Default Address -> Forward to testuser@mydomain.tld
- cPanel>>Email>>Forwarders -> Create a forwarder for a non-existent account doesnotexist@mydomain.tld -> exists@mydomain.tld
- I then sent a mail from a remote domain to doesnotexist@mydomain.tld
- I received the mail sent to doesnotexist@mydomain.tld in the inbox of exists@mydomain.tld but I did not receive it to testuser@mydomain.tld

So based one your testing its not cPanel change that caused it, something is broken in my mail server and my webhost are not interested in fixing it. :mad: Rules or Forwarders wouldn't affect webmail, right? 0 -
Rules or Forwarders wouldn't affect webmail, right?
I'm not sure what you mean they wouldn't affect webmail. They're separate parts of mail services, webmail is just the interface you use to see the mail. I can't be certain what's going on without more information. If your provider could give you a mail transaction from the exim logs where this happens it would be helpful in troubleshooting.0 -

My point here is that if I'm only using webmail, it wouldnt be an issue with rules - unless I'm mistaken, these are client side like outlook etc?I can't be certain what's going on without more information. If your provider could give you a mail transaction from the exim logs where this happens it would be helpful in troubleshooting.
I think I'm out of luck, they said "the server is up, there is nothing more we can do" I guess I just have to live with it for now :(0 -
The good news is the problem magically got better somewhere around October 14th. Everything is good in the world once more! :D 0
