Autoresponder problem: Mail failure - no recipient addresses
I've discovered a new problem with the email autoresponders. Sometimes the account receives a bounce with "Mail failure - no recipient addresses". I think it happens when the email that reaches the inbox is a CC or BCC. The bounce clearly states that cPanel tried to send an email with an empty "To:" line.

Can you provide log output of this? The exim logs are at /var/log/exim_mainlog 0 -
I've redacted usernames, etc. Not sure how informative this is. This is all internal addresses, the recipient is being CC'd. 2020-08-06 16:18:11 H=(DESKTOPII62EE8) [94.248.124.XXX]:55801 Warning: "|/usr/local/cpanel/bin/autorespond RECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM /home/USER/.autorespond" 2020-08-06 16:18:11 1k3gih-0006p1-Aq <= SENDER@DOMAIN.COM H=(DESKTOPII62EE8) [94.248.124.XXX]:55801 P=esmtpsa X=TLS1.2:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:256 CV=no A=dovecot_login:SENDER@DOMAIN.COM S=93371 id=000501d66bfc$69d92f20$3d8b8d60$@DOMAIN.COM T="RV: ___SUBJECT____" for ANOTHERACCOUNT@DOMAIN.COM RECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM 2020-08-06 16:18:11 1k3gih-0006p1-Aq => RECIPIENT R=virtual_user T=dovecot_virtual_delivery C="250 2.0.0 YLTXMSMRLF8DNgAAY6BCVw Saved" 2020-08-06 16:18:12 cwd=/ 4 args: /usr/sbin/sendmail -odb -fRECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM -t 2020-08-06 16:18:12 1k3gii-0006ql-BR <= <> R=1k3gii-0006qe-BB U=mailnull P=local S=1545 T="Mail failure - no recipient addresses" for RECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM 2020-08-06 16:18:12 1k3gih-0006p1-Aq ** |/usr/local/cpanel/bin/autorespond RECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM /home/USER/.autorespond (RECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM) R=virtual_aliases_nostar T=cagefs_virtual_address_pipe: return message generated 2020-08-06 16:18:12 1k3gii-0006ql-BR => RECIPIENT R=virtual_user T=dovecot_virtual_delivery C="250 2.0.0 WNINGCQRLF8DNgAAY6BCVw Saved" 2020-08-06 16:18:12 1k3gii-0006ql-BR => |/usr/local/cpanel/bin/autorespond RECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM /home/USER/.autorespond (RECIPIENT@DOMAIN.COM) R=virtual_aliases_nostar T=cagefs_virtual_address_pipe 0 -
Does this same behavior persist when you have the account out of CageFS or only while it is in the cage? 0 -
The account is using cagefs indeed, I suppose I could get it out of the cage and see what happens. Is this a known problem? 0 -
There are occasions when cagefs isn't updated but this isn't a common issue, I'm just trying to rule it out. 0
