Linked mail server
I'm thinking in creating a new cpanel server with a linked mail server.
Regarding licensing, how does this goes? How is the linked mail server licensed? I read somewhere that it can have a solo licensing.
My goal is to continue to manage the mail accounts at the main server (create / delete, create forwards, etc) and the mail server would only be used to keep the emails, receive them, etc. Also, it would be good if the users could log on webmail there, and not on the main server, although it's not a big issue.
Having this in mind, can I have 1 main server license (with all the accounts) and 1 solo license for the linked mail server? Will the users be still able to login into webmail? On the main server or directly on the linked mail server?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards

Hi, @maquinadigital I would suggest discussing this with our customer service team to ensure that you get the best response and configuration for your needs. You can contact them at any time at cs@cpanel.net 0 -
Hi, yes, that could be done but the forum purpose is to get help in a form that other people can know about it and apply it to their own case. As I didn't see information on this on the forum on this particular use-case, I thought it would be useful for everybody to learn more about it. 0 -
Sorry for the delay but Cpanel answered and I forgot to put it here. The answer is that we need a license per account, also for the linked mail server Me: - "Having this in mind, can I have 1 main server license (with all the accounts) and 1 solo license for the linked mail server?" Cpanel: - "This would not work as for every account that is created on the main server, the linked mail node server would also need to create an account for." For me, license wise, it's a show-stoper. Cpanel lost an opportunity to ease up on licensing and make the price increase more understandable on a user end-point. We could have licensing per account, independently from the server hardware decided, being a huge server or separated servers, even allowing a separation that helps security that Cpanel doesn't provide now (Emails or users' etc folder are on the same account / permissions that websites use and that is not ok, as you know). Continuing to wait until I have some time to implement Cpanel alternatives. 0
