PLUS Addressing Not Working
I see threads that are 6 years old saying that PLUS addressing isn't supported in cpanel.
I wonder what current status is as I see more recent information that says it is.
I'm not being successful with it and need to make it work if at all possible.

Plus addressing works fine. 0 -
Thank you! That's good to hear! Now I'm wondering how to get it to work I guess. I've tried simply adding "+something to the user so: To: myemailaddressname+something@domain.com emails addressed this way don't arrive. To: myemailaddress@domain.com,myemailaddressname+something@domain.com In this case, an email arrives at myemailaddress@domain.com but no email arrives for myemailaddressname+something@domain.com If PLUS addressing is working then I might assume that I need to do something else to enable it? 0 -
hmmm... OK. So, I've sent some test emails to myself and others and they don't arrive in my email client (Outlook). HOWEVER, there are files that correlate with sent times that are in the cPanel files under: mail / fred / roof / new ..... where I had used fred+roof in the PLUS address. So, the emails have arrived part way where they need to be it appears. Now, how do I get the messages into my Outlook client? 0 -
OK. A bit more progress. I opened webmail and added the folder named "roof" and it appeared. And, the messages to +roof appeared there. Now, how to get them into an email client? If I use IMAP, the folder appears. If I use POP3, it doesn't work yet...... ?? Yet, many of our clients are using POP3. 0 -
Any suggestions re: POP3 clients and PLUS addressing? 0 -
I finally got it. For IMAP, the automatically-generated folders should just show up on clients. For webmail, one has to add the folders manually to the display. For POP3 (and this will affect IMAP), one can set *filters*: For messages To: a PLUS address, move to the INBOX. 0 -
I'm glad to see you were able to resolve this and get Plus Addressing configured on your server. Thanks for updating the thread with the steps you took as well. 0 -
cPanelLauren: You're welcome! For a newbie with cPanel, this was really hard to figure out. We had just done our migration to this server platform and were asked to support PLUS addressing. The information needed just wasn't popping out. I can appreciate that "filter" can mean different things to different people or communities. Things I didn't get: 1) in order to support POP3 and PLUS addressing, the messages have to be moved into the INBOX from the somewhat mysterious PLUS address folders. 2) in order to move the messages, a "filter" is the mechanism to use. 3) If (1) and (2) aren't done then one can still see the messages in webmail only if the added folders are added manually to the list of folders shown. Thanks for being here!! 0
