SSL Certificate and Popups
Hello,
I received this account (domain.org) from a previous webmaster and was not given much in the way of explanation to how everything for their site works (including all of cPanel).
From what I see, there are active SSL certificates for this site, but when the site loads, it shows Not Secure in the address bar.
Site users have also been experiencing unwanted popups on what I believe is one of the subdomains for. The complaint I have been seeing is that the users of the forum are the ones experiencing the unwanted popups and only when they visit the forum address.
I am completely lost as I am not I.T. savvy in any way. Is there anything I can or need to do to be able to get these popups stopped and/or secure these sites?
Thanks everyone!

How are you determining that the SSL certificates for the sites are active? As far as popups go that'd be something that would be embedded in the code for the site and you'd need to get a developer to assist you with that if you're unable to determine how to resolve the issue. Also, please ensure that you don't include any actual domain names in your responses. 0 -
I'm looking in the SSL/TLS Status section of cPanel to see when the certificates expire. And you're saying the popups would have had to have been written into the code for the site at some point? They seem to move to different links at different times. 0 -
Site popups wouldn't be something cPanel would be able to manage, if they're popups coming from your site like advertisements that's embedded in the code of the site somewhere. I think I understand the issue now and it's not that you're not using an SSL it's that you have what's called mixed content. Meaning some of the site is served over https and some is served over http. Here is what I see: You can see in the box in the middle that you definitely are using the SSL certificate and the "Not Secure" dropdown indicates that you're not *fully* secure. Meaning that some parts of the site are not being served over https. Using google's developer tools I can pinpoint exactly where the mixed content is originating from as well: This is the visitor counter at the bottom of the page. The resolution for this is fairly simple, instead of linking to 0 -
Thank you so much! You have answered all my questions. I really appreciate the reply! Now I can fix a few things on this old site design and concentrate on getting the whole thing rewritten. Thanks again! 0 -
Glad I could help! Don't hesitate to ask if you run into any further issues or have any questions at all! 0
