cname not working properly

im trying to point newdomain.com to newdomain.domain.com I added a cname record but it's loading domain.com instead of the site in sub.domain.com is there something else that needs to be done on the cpanel side?

  It depends, does your cPanel server act as your domain.com's nameservers? When adding the CNAME record for domain.com, did you remove the domain.com's existing A record? Does it still have an A record?

  it's currently not pointing to the server's nameservers. i'm using the registrar's default ns and there's no A record there.
