Upgrading from Cent OS 6

Hi @rgoldman, That's a great guide. You can test the websites from the destination server using your /etc/hosts file, before you change the IP address. Be sure to do the migration during offpeak hours and ensure you have full backup/s. If you're hosting a lot of accounts from the server, Cloudlinux is a must-have IMHO. It is not difficult to install, when you use the conversion script cldeploy. I'd also recommend you to take a close look at Kernelcare (free with Cloudlinux, I think), JetBackup and Imunify. 0 -
Thanks I transferred everything using the Transfer Tool, didn't know that was in there. 0 -
The short answer is that cPanel does not yet support CentOS V8. So they best that you can do is migrate to CentOS V7 or CloudLinux V7. We have converted from CentOS to CloudLinux in the past (now we just do it when we build servers). From memory (it's been quite a while) the process is painless. The 'biggest' issue is that you have to reboot to switch from the stock CentOS kernel to the CloudLinux kernel. 0 -
Glad to see you were able to get this situated and use the transfer tool. Please let us know if you run into any issues or have any questions 0
