Cpanel price increase 2021
-
We will have to look for alternatives soon, this looks like going up until many of us leave, they will see how far they can push 0 -
Well, this is very easy: The previous price increase didn't make cPanel lose customers, so they simply went for more, this is a trial and error thing. Once they have a massive goodbye from the industry they'll reconsider and probably stop pushing the finger inner. 0 -
After hitting some of your customers with a cost increase of over 400%, and getting publicly burned for it, you are increasing pricing AGAIN? You guys are just unreal.. Sure, you add new features New features does not mean increase in costs on YOUR end, you have been adding features for years already. You already employ that same R&D team that has been there for years, so this is no justification for his new price increase. Is this company still owned by this vulture capitalist firm? If so, I guess it's all we can expect from beancounters who care more about a quick buck than the long-term survivability of their product. Driving away customers with regular price increase is NOT going to be healthy in the long term. Obviously they are more interested in cashing as much money as possible right now, and selling the company before it leaks too many customers. Personally, my cPanel-related costs have doubled in 2020 due to being moved from my former buyCpanel 1-year flat licence to the new monthly pricing. Now I'll be getting hit by another 8% price increase only a few months later. This is unacceptable. 0 -
Ridiculous! That's a ~10% price increase if you have 2 to 5 accounts; 30% price increase if you have 500 accounts! So please tell me - before they delete my post - what are the best competitors to cPanel/WHM and how mature/usable are they? What are other, neutral web forums to discuss alternatives to cPanel in case they delete this thread? Please also answer my poll and tell me which features would be important for you in an alternative to cPanel: 0 -

Hi everyone, Increases suck, I know - but again, as a customer or partner, you have to evaluate how your suppliers (including cPanel) benefits you. If the benefits do no longer exceed the price, then find a new supplier. The same goes when drives from a particular manufacturer go up - then you as a customer can decide whether you're gonna try to find better deals somewhere else. Again, price increases suck :) But individuals and/or companies now have to deal with it - if it doesn't fit the bill, then migrate. Have a beautiful day everyone <3 #stillLovescPanel 0 -
Can't send DM probably because this is a new account (long time lurker, but first time poster). Anyway I doubt there's much that can be done or optimized, unless you back down on this new price increase. I have one single VPS with 25 or 26 domains, and I'm on the 30-domains licence. I used to pay $165 through buyCPanel, had to switch to a $30 monthly plan when my one year contract expired last August (so it now costs me $360 USD a year instead of $165), and the new increase will bump that yearly cost to $390 USD per year. Being in Canada means I also have to deal with the USD-CAD exchange rate, my September renewal cost me $40.25 CAD). I already had to increase pricings for all my hosting customer last year to deal with the original price increase. This new increase I will have to eat. 0 -

I updated your permissions and sent you a PM @MEPlus0 -
What a surprise, another price increase and still no support for Centos 8. 0 -
Well guess it's time to move to Plesk. VC greed knows no bounds and they'll keep pushing and pushing until they find the break point where everyone quits being lazy and migrates to another product with fair pricing. One of the servers I currently manage has 1917 accounts on it. cPanel is going to be $593.60 /month or Plesk $20.63 / month. Seems like a no brainer. 0 -

Google this -----> Webpros Yeah, sucks right? Anyway, Plesk is crXp.0 -
We love cPanel and the cPanel staff are great but if the plan is to increase by 50% each year then we will probably be forced to look elsewhere. Our only viable alternative is currently missing a few features but it seems they will be adding them soon. Future doesn"t look good here. When a company is sold from investor to investor and each new investor increases the prices to try and sell for a huge profit, it"s the customers who end up paying the price. We need some reassurance that in 4 years time we will still be able to afford cPanel. Difficult to invest time in testing new features (like server profiles) without knowing if the price will double next year making cPanel not viable any more for the shared hosting market. 0 -
I'm too very hurt by this. This time I consider it disloyal to customers. And you know, in a relationship you can forgive everything but when there's a loyalty issue there's no return, same as when you wrinkle a paper, there's no return from that. 0 -
It is unreal... we have 7/800 account per server and last year we had serius problem with price increase and new model of pricing, and after one year you increse again of 75% for +100 account? It is unreal and seems you are making fun of us.. we work and for many of us it is already now very hard to continue to maintain the cPanel but now it will be almost impossible for many... I don't have words, really. 0 -

Don't go with Plesk. They are owned by the same company who owns cPanel. Time to give DirectAdmin an early Christmas present and move to them. Unfortunately, not enough people left during the first price increase. Oh well. Hopefully folks will learn at some point. These increases are not going to end until there is a substantial loss in business.0 -
I've been using cPanel for over 15 years and know you can't keep increasing pricing by over xxx% for existing customers, not with Shared/Reseller hosting anyway unless the goal is for everyone to leave you. Little increases here and there due to suppliers increasing their costs, sure, but massive increases is not the norm. It wouldn't be so bad if cPanel provided a discount to existing customers who've helped improved cPanel over the years. Like 10% recurring discount for every 5 years that the customer/partner has been with cPanel. Not quite fair that old customers of cPanel have been paying for the software for over 10 years and put up with lots of bugs/lack of features. But new customers now while paying more pretty much have a bug free experience and have nearly every feature they want/need which was only possible due to the old customers of cPanel who helped improve the product. Nginx/CentOS 8 is not fully supported yet. I hope cPanel/VC know what they're doing long-term. ;) 0 -
I think cPanel is messing with people now. 0 -
allah belan? versin cpanel. I love cpanel :) cpanel is very cheap. 0 -

It sounds interesting. Especially the price. Why didn't more people switch to them? Is it because transferring accounts is too much effort? Or are there important features of cPanel/WHM missing from DirectAdmin?0 -

What a coincidence! Price increase there of over 22%, for servers with more than 30 accounts: Plesk Pricing0 -

It's a really nice product. Not quite as refined as cPanel, but honestly, most end users don't care. A ton of smaller companies switched on the last increase. It's just too difficult for a lot of the bigger companies to migrate. But I assure you, a lot of people dumped cPanel after the last increase.0 -
For us, changing the price when last changing the billing model was a big problem. Now I find out that the prices are being raised again for the next year. And even that is not the worst. The worst thing is that it is an announcement of a regular pay rise every year. Maybe for cPanel customers in the US this is not a problem - but for smaller countries in Europe such prices becomes unprofitable. 0 -

1) DirectAdmin is the "best" next thing, but honestly it's garbage compared to cPanel from personal experience 2) WebHostingTalk forums0 -

I'm in the process of moving all my accounts from cPanel to DA, and I can tell you.. I wish I can come back to cPanel one day after they get burned from bleeding customers. DA is horrible in comparison, feels like an amateur'ish beta product. A lot of things don't work out of the box like cPanel and you need to do many things on SSH that are just a few clicks in cPanel, and all the documentation for these functions come out of a Google search that point to forum threads that are hopefully still there when you need them. Changing PHP extensions etc requires a long rebuilding process whereas in cPanel it's a breeze with EasyApache. The interface in DA is completely counter-intuitive, ugly, slow, with many things that you change still requiring some commands in SSH to complete (that you are not told about until you google it cause it didn't work). But well, it's cheap and many providers even offer it for free, so there is that. At the end you get what you pay for. Note that I'm not defending cPanel here, they are capitalist rats looking only to squeeze out profits and milk the cow as long as it lasts, but hey that's business.0 -
Were lucky enough to have purchased a life time license many years ago ( no longer available ) so the price increase doesn't affect us. But in a survey of our clients a few months ago we found that over 60% of clients ( many being clients for >10 years ) had never even logged into cPanel. They used the mail and FTP instructions provided in the welcome email and that's all they ever want. So for us and probably others here too, cPanel is mainly for admin use and so switching to another control panel like Direct Admin should not be a worry. 0 -

Well but, if they use the mail, how do you think to fight incoming SPAM for your customer using DirectAdmin? How do you think to track error in outgoing mail with DirectAdmin? cPanel/WHM Mail Delivery Reports works pretty well to track problems in received/sent emails0 -
We never use cPanel mail delivery reports neither do we use cPanel for stopping spam. All that and more can be obtained from the indispensable scripts from ConfigServer Services Along with of course basic CLI commands with the mail logs. 0 -

I don't think so. I'm a tiny customer compared to many, but I'm also one of many I'm sure you will lose. These increases are ridiculous! Goodbye, cPanel. I migrated all my clients to a new server running ApisCP (less then 2/3 the cost and at least twice as better!) and shut the cPanel server down about an hour ago. It's wrong for you to see how far you can push people and then attempt retention. You guys screwed up.0 -
Is this the right moment for an price increase ? Cmon, all of us have problems with the economy because of this rubish covid 0
