Uncompressing cPanel & WHM Installer (dnsonly). Extraction failed.

I figured it out. I had to run this: [QUOTE] yum groupinstall base
After that, the installation was able to start. However, then it failed with this: [QUOTE] 2020-10-16 18:57:03 450 (ERROR): cPanel, L.L.C. does not support CentOS version 8. 2020-10-16 18:57:03 452 (ERROR): The system detected an unsupported distribution. cPanel & WHM only supports CentOS 6 and 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux" 6 and 7, and CloudLinux" 6 and 7.
And finally, it stopped after this: [QUOTE] 2020-10-16 18:56:52 1221 [32846] ( INFO): Running script fix-cpanel-perl to bootstrap cPanel Perl. 2020-10-16 18:56:52 1234 [32846] ( WARN): Run #1/3 failed to run script fix-cpanel-perl. 2020-10-16 18:56:58 1234 [32846] ( WARN): Run #2/3 failed to run script fix-cpanel-perl. 2020-10-16 18:57:03 1234 [32846] ( WARN): Run #3/3 failed to run script fix-cpanel-perl. 2020-10-16 18:57:03 1242 [32846] (FATAL): Failed to run script fix-cpanel-perl to bootstrap cPanel Perl. ...propagated at /home/cPanelInstall/selfgz28188/install line 265.Bootstrapping cPanel Perl failed: 256 at /home/cPanelInstall/selfgz28188/install line 336.Removing /root/installer.lock.
So.... it appears DNS-Only cpanel is not able to be installed on CentOS 8. (I understand cpanel is not currently supported with CentOS 8, however I was hoping to run some testing...)0 -
yep unfortunately thats the case. I really hope they will start supporting CentOS by the first quarter of next year though. 0 -
Hi @electric We support CentOS 8 experimentally on v92 of cPanel & WHM which is currently in EDGE. You can install EDGE on a new cPanel server by following the customize your installation instructions here: Customize Your Installation | cPanel & WHM Documentation 0 -
