VPS expanding SSD space
Hello,
on one of my VPS servers, I have decided to upgrade my package - more CPU, RAM, and ofc SSD space. Now while RAM and CPU are simple to upgrade with cPanel, the disk space is not. My hosting provider notified me that most of the time while resizing the partition cPanel will crash so I'm not that willing to do so.
Is there a way for me to make another partition with the remaining disk space and use it for new customers?
If not what is the easiest way to save the whole cPanel configuration, with plugins and of course packages in order to set it back up quickly?
Best

Hi @AtlantisStargate, Firstly, you should get assistance from a qualified system administrator. You could create a new partition /home1/ and new cPanel accounts could be assigned to it. 0 -
I'm not sure I understand the reason behind the statement here: My hosting provider notified me that most of the time while resizing the partition cPanel will crash so I'm not that willing to do so.
If a qualified administrator is making this modification on a server where this modification can even be done there should be no issue with cPanel managing the disk size change. If your provider added a new disk for you, or you have space remaining on the drive, you could create a new partition as noted by @ZenHostingTravis. Ultimately though this is something that your provider should advise you on (as far as what they support). I would second the recommendation that you work with your system administrator to ensure the integrity of your system. If you do not have a system administrator, you may be able to find assistance at System Administration Services.0 -
I can confirm we've added a partition multiple times, assigned accounts to it and have never had an issues @cPanelLauren. 0 -
Thank you both for the replies. I guess the hosting provider just wanted to state that they are warning me that is an issue pops up that I have been warned. Made a partition, everything works fine! 0
