Apache SSL issues on several servers since this morning

Since 5 hours ago 3 of my dedicated servers have stopped serving websites via SSL. In service status, httpd cycles between pending and down. After restarting apache I can get a non SSL site okay for about 30 seconds and then it stops. I can't get SSL sites at all. I haven't made any changes to the servers before this happened, but 3 of my dedicated servers started this behaviour 5 hours ago, all at the same time. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

  Hello @cpanzy , Are you seeing any relevant looking errors in the Apache error log? It will be located at /var/log/apache2/error_log.

  i can see this in that log: [Sat Oct 24 18:54:57.459437 2020] [mpm_prefork:error] [pid 1917023] AH00161: server reached MaxRequestWorkers setting, consider raising the MaxRequestWorkers setting

  It appears it might be a Slowloris attack I have installed mod_reqtimeout from this info How to Mitigate Slowloris Attacks | cPanel & WHM Documentation but still can't get sites.
