Using CalDAV with Outlook / Android

I know that the docs say that it is only officially supported with Apple products, but most of my clients are using Windows, Outlook, and an Android device. So I'm trying to figure out a way to help them out, too. Has anyone successfully done this? I found "CalDav Synchronizer" for Outlook and installed it, but there's no real documentation and I have no clue how to set it up. And once I do, I don't know what to install on my Android phone to make them sync. I also don't know if I need to do something separate to sync up my contacts? And while we're on the subject... how can I make Gmail sync with the same data, instead of using its default calendar that I apparently can't sync anywhere?
