phpldapadmin Exclusion in /etc/yum.conf

I am interested in installing phpldapadmin in a Centos 7 with cPanel server hosted by GoDaddy. I was informed that the php* exclusions in /etc/yum.conf are added by cPanel due to supplying their own version of php and related products. Are there any security risks or concerns to bypassing the php* exclusion and installing phpldapadmin, or are there any other recommended work arounds (e.g., installing and configuring from source)?
