Resize partition

Hello. is there really a way to safely resize a partition? particularly reducing a partition size. The server is on a failover cluster. I could resize the vm but I am aware that I still need to also apply these changes to the actual cpanel/linux server. The goal is to reduce the size of the main partition or /. Thanks in advance.
