    I also forgot but they also say to leave the .cgi-bin folder

    You could create a new folder, move all the files/folders there so you can be sure if anything is still needed that can be restored. Alternatively you can ask them to re-create your account so you can start empty.

    Hello! Andrew's suggestions here are on point. Recreating the account would likely be easier than figuring out which files to keep. You could also create a new cPanel account and confirm which files exist in public_html by default. However, the directories you mentioned can be kept.

    I spoke with my hosts and here are the files and folders they suggested to keep: .well-known/ cgi-bin/ .user.ini php.ini
