Manually Pruning older Backups

Within WHM our backup destination is getting critically full despite the Backup Configuration set to retain 5 Days, 2 weeks and 1 month. Looking at our destination we have files going back many months that were not removed. I would like to resolve why the files are not getting removed but as space is critically low I would first like to clean the directories. Can the files be manually removed without causing other issues or is there a database in the background that is connected to these files? Thanks

  Hi, You should be able to delete those files without any problems. You can access your backup directory via SSH, and delete the oldest days. You will find that in restore backups, it no longer allows you to select those deleted copies, but otherwise, it should not pose any additional problems.

  @kennysamuerto is correct! There shouldn't be any issues if you manually remove them from the server via SSH, SFTP, etc.
