Hello! Ubuntu will be fully supported in version 102, which doesn't have a full release date quite yet. Until then, I would suggest CentOS 7 or 8. Or, even AlmaLinux. What Operating Systems are Supported by cPanel?

Ubuntu is still experimental. I recommend not using it until it's stable. Centos 7 is stable now and will continue to support until 2024, if you want a longer support period, almalinux 8 will be a better option. Important note: You cannot use versions below php 7.2 on Almalinux 8 and versions below php 7.3 on ubuntu. In addition, ubuntu currently only supports mysql 8, no mariadb support.

Quite frankly, support for old versions of PHP is a really big deal. Can we please get a refresh for which are the best operating systems for cPanel now at the beginning of 2023 especially that we are slowly getting close to CentOS7 EOL? Thanks!

There is no change. Currently, Almalinux 8 is the most suitable choice for update support and stability. If you have sites under PHP 7.2, you should prefer imunify360's hardened php feature or cloudlinux. Edit: Alternatives in RocyLinux 8. But since almalinux was developed together with cpanel, I look more warmly.

We have gotten sick of trying to work with cloudlinux and its issues, we are moving to lightspeed servers. Cloudlinux7 and cPanel Perfect, Cloudlinux problematic and hassle.

Thank you for the update. So the CloudLinux PHP Selector will still offer old versions of PHP like 5.3 even on AlmaLinux 8? By the way, AlmaLinux 8 active support ends on May 1st 2024 but security updates should continue until 2029. I hope cPanel will continue to support it until 2029, not 2024.

I am a little bit puzzled as I have just installed a AlmaLinux 8 server with cPanel 108.0.15 and I have managed to installed with ease versions like EA PHP 5.1 - 7.1 from EA4. I thought that PHP versions offered by cPanel (EA PHP) under AlmaLinux 8 would start from 7.2. It's true I have also installed CloudLinux on the server but only after installing old EA versions from EA4. Anyway, I am not speaking about ALT PHP versions. I am speaking about EA ones. I even have EA PHP 5.1. Right now I don't have a site at my disposal that would actually work under such old versions so I am not sure if they actually work but at least phpinfo() output suggest they do. So I must have misunderstood something.

@AndyB78 in EasyAoache, when you look at the PHP versions, they are provided by cloudlinux. For ex. php52 5.2.17-3.el8.cloudlinux.2 ? I just installed cPanel in AlmaLinux 8 and in EA there are PHP versions 7.2 - 8.2.
