I'd guess that it's an alias for your domain, it can be used as a "temporary address" until the domain is registered. Check in cPanel -> Domains -> Aliases. Btw cPanel does not create any domains, I'd suggest that you contact your hosting provider if you need help with this.

As I said, things have been fine for years. Only now am I getting these emails. I already contacted my hosting provider, who told me that cPanel was the one that created these domains. They basically didn't respond, presumably believing that it's in your bailiwick. I'll try again to contact my provider.

I contacted my hosting provider, and here's what they replied: The subdomains and the SSL errors are related to the subdomains created when your service was setup 10+ years ago as we mentioned before. ... You do not need to do anything as these are not errors related to current services you are using. Your domain is showing as online and active with a valid SSL. So, how to I get cPanel to stop sending me these worrying emails, about which I seem to be unable to do anything about.

You go to cPanel -> Security -> SSL/TLS Status, mark the domain you want to exclude from AutoSSL and click "Exclude 1 Domain from AutoSSL".
