Kindly explain to users: 1) how to get the their version of cPanel & WHM? 2) how to get their version of the running OS? 3) Is the following link the one that spells out how long each OS will last?

This is my status. Do I need to upgrade? What do I risk by not upgrading?

@PCZero - you'll be stuck on version 110, which will likely be out in Q1 of 2023. That will likely be the next LTS and then you'll have until the following June until that no longer receives security updates. So you still have a good amount of time to make a plan.

Will it work if I upgrade my OS from Cloudlinux 7 to Cloudlinux 8 using Elevate?

@zhongshan - currently, no. The tool only handles moving to AlmaLinux, RockyLinux, or Ubuntu. There isn't a direct way to move from CL 7 to CL8 at this time, without a migration:

Version 110 of cPanel & WHM will be the last version to support CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7. But don't worry, it'll still be supported until June 2024! After that, version 112 will be the first version that won't support those systems. If you're still using CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7, now's the time to start thinking about upgrading. And for those who can't upgrade just yet, there's always Extended Lifecycle Support to keep you covered. If you're looking for more info on how to make the transition, check out

@LyonStanford - that sounds right to me. I am anticpating that version 110 is the next LTS tier, which gets one year of support.

Hello I have 4 dedicated server with a renowned hosting provider. Yesterday i request them to upgrade CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8. But they said at dedicated server unable to upgrade CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8. They say first i have a go for a new server with AlmaLinux 8 the migrate data to new server. Is it true???

I just had my server copany do an OS reload on AlamLinux. I have CentOS 7. Went smoothly at no cost. Once the OS reload was done I siply restored the backups I ran right before they started and in no time everything was back up to speed.

@loyalcom - it's completely possible that other things beyond the operating system and cPanel may not support an in-place upgrade. You can always ask your host what those blockers are, as that isn't something we would know on our end.

@loyalcom - since your hosting provider said you can't on their platform, that's really the final answer. You'd need to speak with them to find out why the ELevate tools will not work for your situation.

I have to say that this is not really fair from cPanel. I believe RHEL7 should receive new cPanel versions for much longer. Why to stop on cPanel version from Q1 of 2023, if RHEL7 will be EOL in Q3 of 2024. That is around 18 months on supported OS without new cPanel versions on RHEL 7. Is this what we really deserve with increased license pricing? I would expect opposite, new cPanel versions even after OS EOL if using ELS.

    @dexus :
cPanel & WHM version 110 will be supported through June 2024

That is our next LTS version - does that help to clear things up?

No, that does not help. I understand that, and I think that is not fair from cPanel. CentOS 7 or CloudLinux 7 should receive new cPanel versions and new features at least while EL7 OS is still supported, so I would expect that cPanel on EL7 based OS get all new version up to Q2 2024 or even longer if ELS is used, instead LTS 110 version from Q1 2023.

Why is it not fair that cPanel won't further support a dying OS to make it easier for admins that are simply delaying the inevitable? If your host can't/won't help you, get a new host. If the cost to spin up a new instance and move your accounts over is too much, then perhaps you're charging too little? I'd much rather have Ubuntu 22.04 LTS support than more CentOS 7 support - get me off this sinking ship ASAP!

What @bellwood said - the main issue is really development effort. It just doesn't make sense for us to support something that will be made EOL so soon. As an example, we wouldn't want to spend months on a release that comes out in March only to have the underlying software lose support in April - that just doesn't make sense from a development perspective.

What about an OS recommendation that will work with the new version of Cpanel for a server that requires php 56 along with php 7&8? Unfortunately I need to run php 56 for a very important script on one of the websites on my server. Is there an OS that Cpanel supports in this regard?

I'd suggest looking at CloudLinux and their alt-php. They support/backport security fixes to old PHP and it works fine with cPanel.

Is ELevate script working fine about CL 7 to CL 8

cPanel ELevate isn't designed to work with CloudLinux just yet. They have their own ELevate tool, but it is also still in beta:

Looks like the writing's on the wall for CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 with cPanel & WHM. Version 110 is their swan song, supported till June 2024. Post that, we're in uncharted territory with version 112 ditching support for 'em.

Looks like CloudLinux (tuxcare.com) is already planning

I run Centos 7. Should the WHM notification indicator be telling me that version 112.0.3 is Available if I supposedly can't install it. I'm set to only install updates manually so seeing this notification has me concerned about what it may try to do they next time I manually run UPCP. Will the update process prevent it and this is just an annoying version reminder that really shouldn't appear if you can't install? Concerned that I my hose my system if it tries to install an incompatible version. Just need some clarity and reassurance.

@kdean - that sounds like an issue with the update page. I'll test this tomorrow!
