Left menu 'Search Tools' in WHM v106.0.7 returns irrelevant results
Hi,
The left menu 'Search Tools' in WHM 106.0.7 is returning irrelevant results.
For example, a search of 'list'. You'd expect 'list accounts' as the top result. Instead it's 11th. The top result in 106 is 'Statistics Software Configuration'
In WHM 104.0.10 the search works as expected.
It's worth noting the 'top bar' search in WHM 106 works as expected for the same 'list' query, returning 'list accounts' as top result.
Please can you fix the left menu search?
Thanks.

Hey there! What you're seeing is actually the intended behavior. The top-right search bar is a literal search, so "list" pulls up "List Accounts." The search bar on the left is a filter that will pull up anything where the title or description may have the word "list" in it. If they both pulled up the same results, there wouldn't be a point to having both search bars. 0 -
@cPRex thank you for your reply. [QUOTE] Hey there! What you're seeing is actually the intended behavior. The top-right search bar is a literal search, so "list" pulls up "List Accounts." Can you confirm this is what's intended? Take a different search word, 'reseller'. The first result the left menu search in WHM returns is Resolver Configuration. As far as we can see there's no mention or link to resellers in the Resolver Configuration. It's not even a option for non-root users. The only possible link we can see is 'resolver' could be interpreted as a misspelling of 'reseller' when using fuzzy search logic. 106 changelog lists: [QUOTE]Fixed case PH-18015: Improve the search feature in the WHM main navigation menu by adding fuzzy logic.
From what we've seen so far WHM 106 weights the fuzzy search approximate results above exact matches. To us this isn't logical. We'd like the menu logic be improved to prioritize search results so exact matches are weighted above the approximate results. Please can you pass this on for the devs to look into again? Thank you.0 -
Sure - let me have the team check this out! 0 -
I did reach out to the user interface team on this and they agreed with my thoughts about the filtering, but said they'd like to see more advancement in the fuzzy search area, so this is being examined. 0 -
Thanks @cPRex. We appreciate you're trying to make the left search a more 'general' search. We're certain prioritizing exact or phrase matches of the term entered by a user above the 'fuzzed' approximate results will help make the search more useful for everyone. We look forward to the advancements. 0 -
The top search is returning rubbish results. There is a user account name that starts with 'bibi', yet this is what appears. On a short mobile screen it's impossible to reach the cpanel icon. Try it, use the search tool (/) for "bibi" exclude quotes and you'll get results that are far beyond relevant. 0 -
@Damian - it looks like you may have attempted to attach an image to your post, but I do not see that here. Can you try including that again? 0
