redirect for domain from cpanel account to another

Hi, I'm looking for some advice please on how to proceed I currently have 2 cpanel profiles setup on WHM, 'domain.com' and 'domain.com.au' I plan on redirecting domain.com.au to domain.com/au, do I need to delete the current profile for 'domain.com.au' before this will work? As when I try to create a 'domain alias' or 'domain' in the domain.com cpanel profile to setup a domain redirect, I receive the error ' ... (XID gumhaa) ... already exists in the userdata '. I have also added a redirect on the domain.com.au cpanel profile to go to domain.com/au but this doesn't seem to redirect. I would prefer an option which has the least amount of downtime, as I can imagine if/when I delete the cpanel profile for domain.com.au, something is bound to still conflict or throw up an error. Thanks
