RHEL 6.10 to Ubuntu 22 Migration
Hello cPanel Gurus,
We are moving out of RHEL to Ubuntu 22. Currently we have the following cPanel instances
RHEL 6.10 vmware [Node1] v86.0.40
RHEL 6.10 vmware [Node2] v84.0.21
I've been reading guides and whatnot about migration and initial setups but I couldn't find a clearcut approach on how to achieve our goal - Migrate our existing cPanel instances running on RHEL (6.10) to Ubuntu 22.
Secure Downloads | cPanel, Inc. only has the latest release, is this even possible? Install an old version?
2. Use the transfer tool and transfer the production site(s) from RHEL to Ubuntu
3. Upgrade cPanel
4. Problem solved.
Then again, I'm not even sure if the install of older version is allowed.
Reaching out to the cPanel gurus out there for suggestions on whats the best course of action to complete the migration.

Hey there! Unfortunately, none of that plan is going to work properly. You wouldn't be able to install a cPanel server with anything older than version 106 at this time, and cPanel only supports Ubuntu 20.04 right now as we don't have version 22 support ready. You'll want to do the following: -Create a server with Ubuntu 20.04 -Install cPanel -Use the Transfer Tool to move the sites to the Ubuntu machine 0 -

Appreciate the response! Do I need to apply / Install our cPanel license to the newly built u20 server first before using the transfer tool? Or this can be done once migration is complete? I'll keep you posted if this works out well.0 -
You'll have to have cPanel installed on the new machine. If you don't get a trial license for that server and don't want to move your paid license just yet, you can always request a migration license through a support ticket or by contacting cs@cpanel.net directly, which is our Customer Service team email. 0
