Add a user on a different domain

Hi, been a while since I tried to add a user as cPanel had extremely basic abilities to add developer accounts. I knew there were some updates, but still can't add an account. I log in, select add user. Type in the info and note that my user has a different email address than my domain (which, as a contractor, of course they would), When I put in the email address correctly and press the update button, it seems to add their name, but with our domain as their address. How can I use their domain? By example: name - susie smith user name - susiesmith domain - mydomain.com contact email address - susiesmith@contractorinc.com When I add that and then press save, the next screen shows the email address as susiesmith@mydomain.com but of course that address doesn't exist. Any help greatly appreciated.

  Hi wmu! The email you get up (user@accountdomain.tld) is the full username of the account. This is the expected behaviour Cpanel does when handling usernames incase of multiple user with the same username, i.e Developer / Admin, by using at @ sign followed by the domain. If you press "Edit" under the user, you will be able to see the registred email. In this case, your username would susiesmith@mydomain.com 81449 Hope this answered your question.

  OK, thank you! It's a little hard to understand the way it's presented, but your explanation is very helpful. Next issue is that my user never gets the email. Do I have to have email set up on my account somehow to send a new user an email? I just assumed it would work via cpanel.

  Hi again. Glad that cleared up some questions for you. Email notifications are setup by the WHM host. Based on your prior post history it seems like you only have access to the CPanel accounts, and not the WHM administation panel right? This is something your host needs to look into for you. However, there is still light in the tunnel. You are able to set a password for the account by using the "Change Password" function under "User Managment". The contracter in question can then log in and change his password to something more secure at his own accord.
