Safest way, get a second server and use the WHM transfer functionality to move the accounts. If you want to do it in-place, look at

Using which of the ways cPanel recommend to make the upgrade on the safest side?

Hello, Would you please be so kind to let me know if the Elevate process will wipe all the data from the server? Also, the current server runs CL7 on top of CentOS 7. Through the Elevation process, the server will go to CL8 with AlmaLinux 8? Kindest regards

The whole idea of Elevate is to upgrade from CL7 to CL8 w/o wiping things out. The CL version (I believe) is still in beta.

Thank you for the reply. Our plan is to migrate all accounts from the servers that need the upgrade to other servers that don't need an upgrade, then make the upgrade and then migrate back their accounts. Would that still be a good idea or it would be unnecessary hustle? Just asking for opinions to see what others are doing.

If the servers that your migrating to have the capacity for the new accounts, I don't know why you'd want to migrate them back (just extra work). When you have the old server empty, rebuild and then you have a spot for new accounts.

Thank you for your reply. The servers in question are managed so we have no other choice but to transfer the accounts back. Also, we don't want them to have any downtime and this is why the migration will take place. Haven't done an OS upgrade in the past on a production server and that's why we need to minimize any unexpected situations that may appear during the process. Has it worked flawlessly for you so far?
