New cPanel pricing end of 2023
-
This is some serious fuckin bullshit. I'm sick of these companies continuously raising prices -- and for what!? WHAT HAVE YOU GUYS EVEN PROVIDED PAST 2019 TO WARRANT ALL OF THESE GOD DAMN PRICE INCREASES!? I'll be looking elsewhere before the end of the year. I'm done with this shit. 0 -
Example server with 120 accounts on it: Originally: $20/month Sept 2019: $49/month (+145% increase) Jan 2021: $54.50/month (+11.22% increase, or 172.5% from 2018) Jan 2022: $60.79/month (+11.54% increase, or +204% from 2018) Jan 2023: $67.79/month (+11.52% increase, or +239% from 2018) Jan 2024: $68.99/month (+1.02% increase, or +245% from 2018)
Thank you for taking the time to put your analysis together (seriously!). It's really hard to swallow such large increases per year when the industry is going in the other direction with stronger, more feature-rich cloud-based services at a lower cost. Other than the expected patches, there appears to have been little, if any, real innovation in the past 24 months. If anyone is aware of any "bring more customers in" features and benefits in cPanel over what was available in 2022, I'm all ears...0 -

1000% agree with this. Unfortunately, Plesk just wasn't right for me. Spent two entire days trying to get that running right, and although it supports a transfer from cPanel/WHM into Plesk, it left a bunch of messy domain aliases in-place as well as messy DNS records still existing after the move. So far, Plesk is out the window for me as a viable option. ISPConfig is just flat out ugly, and seems to be geared more towards the Linux-heads out there that can navigate such tiresome menu options and off-the-wall naming conventions for certain options, etc. I haven't looked into Virtualmin yet, but that one is next on my list. The ONLY real benefit right now for me to keep WHM/cPanel is the intense customizations I've done on the backend which keeps my system working like a newly greased gear. Outside of the that, I'll be pushing hard to try as many solutions as I can possibly come across to replace this shit.0 -
At one time, I liked ispmanager. I recently had the pleasure of working with their latest version. And here's what I think - with the combination of their pricing and feature set, this panel should be considered the first migration candidate. 0 -

Ohhhh. I like the way ISPManager looks! I haven't looked into that one yet, but I'm about to throw it in a VM as we speak to see if it fits my needs.0 -
The problem is there is no quick and easy (and cheap) way to migrate away. Say you want to move to another Panel. You will probably spend months on a VPS testing it to make sure it is up to the task you need it to do. Then when it comes to actually migrating you will probably need to move to another server one account at a time to ensure everything moves over as expected. I would be mega nervous about installing something alongside CP and trying to migrate from A to B. Talk about conflicts. 0 -

They have a migration tool build in and the documentation is not that complex Reseller management WWW-redirection Policy settings IP-adresses management Cluster setttings NGINX-proxy support Ispmanager business. PHP settings for each www-domain Not to dissuade any one of switching just to warn beforehand that if you use any of these functions at this moment you have to go with the business subscription or your going to run into a lot of terminal manual work.0 -
And the business subscription is not a lot different pricing-wise for ispmanager with 100 control panels than cPanel? 0 -
A lot of the issues I run into with these other control panels is that there are quite a few spelling errors throughout the interfaces, weird grammatical errors, etc. I don't know why, but that has always irked me to no ends with software, video games, etc. It comes off as shoddy work, even though the developers may be incredibly intelligent and brilliant, it worries me to see obvious spelling/grammatical errors displayed like that -- almost as if they aren't taking enough pride in the presentation of their product. It puts me off and makes me worry that if they ship a product with weird errors like that, how bad does the code look on the back-end? I don't know. I'm still searching. I'm not sure I'll be able to find anything other than Virtualmin, even though that's a beast and half to wrangle in itself, it's the one thing I've found with some sort of consistency in the product both. 0 -
Virtualmin is pretty decent from an administrator's point of view but has anyone ever introduced it to end users? If so how was it received? 0 -

I.....would.....never.... ahahahaha0 -
This round, the price hike ended up being surprisingly low. I had higher expectations, to be honest. It seems that cPanel is losing customers, but that doesn't come as a surprise. Currently, we've transferred 90% of our servers to DA, but they are now ripping off their old customers according to the same scheme. Therefore, we have decided to stick with cP for the remaining boxes to prevent additional complications. Oh yes, I haven't noticed anything new aside from the unpleasant Jupiter incident. Additionally, also version 116 lacks updates, similar to the previous ten releases. It seems that the funds are solely utilized to settle the VC. This is disheartening considering that it used to be impeccable and prompt five years ago. Nowadays, urgent issues take as long as 14 hours to be attended to. In contrast, the customer service has been deteriorating and slowing down. 0 -

I was just looking into DA as a viable replacement. When you say they are ripping off old customers, what do you mean by that? How has your experience been with them so far?0 -
I'm happy to have a discussion about our price increase, and I know that no one likes price increases. However, we need to be careful in discussing alternative products and our experiences with those - that likely belongs in a place outside this Forum. 0 -

If the discussion isn't going to go along the lines of me saying the entire cPanel customer base hates the unnecessary price increases year after year after year, and you saying, "We understand, and we will rescind our announcement immediately and fully review our price increases to be absolute necessity-based going forward." then I'm not interested.0 -
@Noxwaste - I wish I could say that were the case! No, I'm fine with people talking over things, but I don't want it to turn into a "this other control panel sucks too" because then it's "Hey, did you see the cPanel Forum was bashing _____ panel?" And that's a legal road I don't want to even get close to. 0 -
Here's what cPanel really thinks of their customers: [QUOTE]Limited customer churn despite higher prices underline some demand price inelasticity. We believe WebPros' strong market share, limited competition and a small share of total hosting costs provide scope for further pricing increases, although the magnitude is contingent on the scope of new and improved features.

This is the most dishonest company in the world, such behavior is not possible, I imagine whoever runs this company what a character they could be, unscrupulous greedy, what nasty people. 0 -
Also looking at the comparison sheet there are several things that are in cPanel that seems to be only in the higest paid plan for ispmanager
However, ispmanager is now offering a year of free usage for switching from cPanel.0 -
Personally, I've tried many other panels and none come close, so I'll stick with it for now and just pass on the costs to my customers, just like every other sad provider. I am not happy about these increases though. I think price increases per se are fine, but should be justified, and there appears to be no justification at all. Inflation is coming down, so the cost of living is slowly reducing. That means less wage pressure and lower overheads generally. Will cPanel put our prices down to reflect downward inflation? In addition, the feature request graveyard of dead projects are salt in the open wound. Take the HA project for example. It's only been THE most requested feature for over ten years. cPanel announced they'd begun working on it, and then abruptly removed the roadmap and discontinued updates.... Unbelievable and disappointing. @zodiac9797 care to share the name of this NOC of yours? It's almost half the price! 0 -
Datacenters only sell cPanel licenses for their customers, i.e. if they host your dedicated server or VPS you may be able to get cPanel license from them, for lower price. 0 -

I agree. Sure, it's Leaseweb (Leaseweb | Global Hosted Infrastructure (IaaS) and Cloud Solutions). They have DC's in most continents.0
