That'd be my guess. Lack of supported protocols or ciphers. Maybe the server doesn't have any of the ciphers available that IOS17 deems secure, or maybe IOS17 wants TLS 1.3 and not 1.2 or lower and your server doesn't support 1.3. Wish I had an IOS 17 device to test with. I only have IOS 16.6.x devices.

I'm sure it is something like that. User with IOS 16.7.x are not seeing this SSL issue like IOS 17.x users. We are using default ciphers for Dovcot Mail config and Exim. DovCot does does not support TLS 1.3 yet for IMAP or POP3.

From Smartermail (Smartertools) forum (might be an interesting read). Granted, the SM thread below is a few months old. But it talks about IOS 17 beta 3 having fixed the problem. Any chance your client is running IOS 17 beta 2 or lower?

Yes, I read that one earlier and it looks like the issue should have been correct by apple in the beta release.

The client was able to add IMAP but not POP3. Not sure why, but they are happy today.
