Anyone Symlinked the /home directory to Block Storage?
I've got one client that 75% of their web application's storage use is PDF files. The issue it creates is the application doesn't need a lot of CPU and RAM but all the VPS plans I have to buy the more expensive plan to get the storage I need which has overkill on CPU and RAM. I'm getting ready in the coming weeks to migrate my server to Almalinux 9 and I'm thinking of going back to Vultr for my VPS hosting as they aren't the cheapest but they have good performance and excellent customer support.
Couldn't I just purchase separate nVME block storage from them, mount it on the VPS, then move my Cpanel /home directory to the block storage using symlink? The beauty of that is if ever there was a catastrophic issue with the operating system, I could restore the daily VPS snapshot to a new instance and remount the block storage and all the files for all the account would be as they were right before the server went down and all I would lose is an hour worth of database changes (do hourly database backups and I don't host any email).

I can't suggest trying this at all. This would be a band-aid and not a very good one at that. Your best option would be to migrate the client to a server with sufficient resources. 0 -
I also don't have any positive thoughts on this one as this isn't an environment we test cPanel in. If you want to try it, feel free, but we can't guarantee this will work properly. 0
