Forums Migration Update
-
Zendesk doesn't have support for private messages or for signatures.
Andrew.- the email on the old system was the second one from your option list. Now, it's the same account you use to sign into our support system at support.cpanel.net.

cPRex no luck. I can't reset the password if I click here on sign in then choosing forgotten password (never get the email). I cant login to manage2 but I can request password reset there, I got the mail successfully, set a new password but cant login with that either.... shall I open a ticket?

Sure - I'd do a ticket and then we can check out your account.

cPRex well scratch that, I will just use this one as I dont use the other one for opening tickets anyway so thats okay.

UPDATE - We have completed the mapping of links back to September 2013, so all older search results will go to the proper page as of right now!

Great job! So a couple of questions from my part:
1. Is it possible to manage Sys Admin Services ad by the sys admin? Is it possible to re-add images there? (either from backup or by providing them again)
2. Status icon - is it possible to have that?
3. Avatar - it seems that we can't set that..is there a way to do so?
4. Badges - like "Jurassic Moderator" is it possible to set for sysadmins with certifications?
5. Badges under profile - I guess this is something different? like based on how many we posts etc..
Thanks Rex:)

1 - Not at this time. I'm happy to work with you directly to get your page updated
2 - There are not status icons available
3 - We're still working on that. Apparently there are some complications with the avatar system
4 - Yes! I plan to expand these soon, so let me know what ideas you'd like to see!
5 - Correct, but I haven't set any of those up. If you have ideas we can do it.1 -
Is it possible to be logged in longer? This 1 day automatic logout is super annoying.
1 -
I don't think there is any control over that, but I'll add it to the list. At this point, I'm looking at post-holidays for any actual dev work.

Hi cPRex and team, just a few questions,
1) WTF is wrong with you guys, what do you smoke over there?
2) Are there any plans to restore the actual CONTENTS of the posts? A lot of the posts/answers are cut mid-sentence or just empty, I'll give you a couple of examples if you're blissfully unaware -- these are fresh, not 10 years old:

https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/19164337288855-dnsadmin-testing
3) How about keeping the OG forum locked for posting but actually running, for posterity?Thank you

Since this "community" is not a forum anymore, i have opened a ticket so you can delete my account. I just hate how this new community works, and i don't want to receive more e-mails.

I don't know how to quote a previous post, but tgv

I agree with what you said, especially part 3) keep old forum alive but locked.... that would be a nice transition.

cPRex how do we add signatures like Andrew did ?
0 -
Can you please make the thread comment background area white instead of #f6f6f6
The grey hurts my eyes and is hard to read text

tgv - The migration tool wasn't perfect, so we'd only be restoring those manually as people point them out.
We also aren't able to keep the old forum online for security reasons.
WorkinOnIt - you can't - he's manually copying and pasting that each time. I'll ask about the background choice color.

vbulletin -> xenforo -> now...

How about comments for System Administrator Services? Any way satisfied clients can leave their reviews? (and maybe thats also being shown on the list page with stars or something...) :)

so anyone using google and come and these 'imported' pages notice that it is:
1) Unreadable (due to the small screen and large massive texts)
2) Characters did disappear in commands to solve something, causing plain wrong information on the screen (ran into that yesterday unfortunately i do not know where or what anymore or i would added that info here).Just wondering if other see / feel the same on this matter. And wonder why the one responsible for this migration project has not yet rolled back the whole thing (if at this point that is even possible). I cant stress enough what a immense huge mistake this was imho.

rainboy - I do know some of the content just couldn't be imported properly, and we just didn't have a workaround that would ensure all types of text would get moved seamlessly. Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, we tried to choose the option that was compatible with the most data we could find, but it was never going to be perfect.

Hi cPRex
Is there no way to sort results in a forum search? I could not find a way to sort by date for example....
1 -
Unfortunately no.

cPRex Is today the day we can get photos for our profiles?
Also when i mention you, i see 2 options for your profile, one with and one without photo.

I've taken care of the duplicate me. He has been vanquished.
I have a meeting with Zendesk next Friday and I'm hoping to find out more about the avatars then.
1 -
cPRex is there any alternative way to contact you about the adjustments and changes I would like to make in the system administration services? (with images and such)

Your best option would be to submit a ticket and I can review that.

Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, we tried to choose the option that was compatible with the most data we could find, but it was never going to be perfect. While this is a good answer, it doesn't really answer the question. I fail to see why you couldn't have kept the old forum - if it 'aint broke don't fix it. I know you'll say you wanted to combine support tickets with forum / community posts - and I also know that it's hard for people to admit when they are wrong...Honestly, while the fees are going up, it feels like this part at least - is going down / backwards..... Thank god the support team are still really great. But really, this whole 'forum' debacle really makes me question the strategy you guys have adopted and it concerns me to see such an experienced company decide on something like this, knowing full well there would be a huge loss of information to so many users. Thousands of links I come across are still all broken, unformatted and missing critical information pertinent to the thread. To some extent, you might as well not have bothered to do a migration of the old data!Grumbling aside, I'm grateful to you cPRex for at least keeping us in the loop.2

I noticed a number of non-staff end up making topics here - i.e. https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/21217451430039-Need-Help-Resolving-cPanel-License-Error-on-my-Website
Maybe those permissions should be adjusted.

EthernetServers - unfortunately that isn't an option in the new system, although it is something I've requested that Zendesk add.

cPRex i am so sorry for you. That makes moderation a billion times harder. That is why usually in such project a gap analysis will be made to point out the gaps between the two systems. Something which have been severely missing in this migration imho.

What an absolute shambles. Cpanel should just accept the cash loss and move back to an appropriate system.
