Best course of action!

Hi All! Though I have been using cPanel for years with hosted sites I have now gone to a unmanaged dedicated server for my website. I am working from centos with cpanel. When I first access the server I found WHM waiting for me and this was a surprise, a pleasant surprise, but a surprise that caught me offguard. My question is now how to proceed. I have a single website with no real intentions of adding more so with that one site in my mind I would hazard the guess that I would use WHM to set up a single account for cpanel for my site. Im not sure if I even have to do that or if WHM will do all that is needed to run a single site without cpanel. I know that Im comfortable with cpanel interface but the WHM is new to me and a bit overwhelming. My biggest concern at the moment is getting my site back up and running as it has been sitting in a zip file for a day now. Any direction from the great people here would be fantastic.   Is this zip file a cPanel backup archive? If so (and it's one from the legacy backup system) take a look at [url=http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/WHMDocs/RestoreFullbackup]Legacy Restore a Full Backup/cpmove File If not and the zip just contains your site files, then you can create the account in whm, login to it's cPanel and use the filemanager to upload and uncompress your site's zip. Possibly off topic to what you asked - but as this an unmanaged server depending on your level of comfort you may want to check what your host has done in the way of hardening the system and review their documentation as to how to manage and update it...   Thanks for the response. Yes, it is a full cPanel backup archive. If Im reading you correctly and I think I am then I was on the right path to simply make an account for myself and use the new cPanel to do the restore. I will go that route and if worse comes to worse I can always wipe the server and start over again. I have the sitefiles.tar.gz saved to my harddrive and to a secure and separate backup drive.   Hello :) You mentioned creating the account, and then restoring it. That is a little bit different than the actual steps you should take. Instead of creating the account, you should actually upload the backup archive to the /home partition on this server. Then, restore it via: "WHM Home >> Backup >> Legacy Restore a Full Backup/cpmove file" This automatically creates the account, so you should not create it beforehand. Thank you.
