Info about public_html permissions
Hi to all.
I have a problem with a component installed on my cms.
For some strange causes when users try to delete a photos inside me website the public_html changes to 777 causing "Internal server error"
For now as i know there's not a really fix about this... and also some users say that "Suphp switch to Fastcgi" can do the difference sloving this issue (but all of them does not seems so sure about this.... so i don't want to make changes without a confirm).
Anyway i set a cron to give again permission 750 to that folder.. so website comes alive in few seconds if it happen.
Question is... there's a way in Cpanel to give permissions to 777 at public_html account? I know that's risk settings but as i saied a cron fix the permissions every minute so it can Grant a full livetime of my website.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi, With Suphp, it is not possible to have permission 777. You can change the php handler, but that is not a fix. The script is not supposed to change the permission of public_html after removing a photo etc, so there is a but with that script or plugin. Better try to fix it before changing anything at the server side. 0 -

Yes of course. Problem is that staff developer of this extension are not able to realize where exactly issue happen on their code and unfortunately i'm not a programmer. So i have this website crashing lot of time when this happen. I'm afraid to change php handler because of that i'm fine with suphp but i cannot see others way right now. It's possibile for example have fastcgi only for a single hosting or must be changed in whole server? :confused:0 -
Hello :) The use of insecure permissions on a directory should not be used as a resolution to a script problem. Those permissions are likely to open up your website to security problems. I highly recommend using a different CMS if the current one you are using is requiring these permission values on the public_html directory. Thank you. 0
