Update Domain to use Registrar's DNS Servers after account has been created
I have inherited a configuration on a server with 5 separate domains, which should have been configured to use registrar's DNS servers at the time the accounts were created, but they were not. This is preventing the web sites sending email to their own domains (where the DNS and mail servers are external to the web server).
What do I need to do in WHM/CPanel to retrospectively configure the domain to use external the DNS servers to determine where to send email etc.

Hello Kallan, For the domain/website mail service to work properly, you need to set the MX records (of external/internal mail server) correctly at the nameserver end. So the first step is to identify the current name-servers for your domains: 1) You can use . If you have trouble setting the MX records please contact your domain registrar support. 3) In WHM, please set the name servers for the domains to your REGISTRAR's DNS server. Regards, Antony 0 -
Hello :) Please utilize the following option: "WHM Home " DNS Functions " Edit DNS Zone" When editing the zone, ensure you select "Remote Mail Exchanger" if you have email accounts hosted on a remote server. Thank you. 0 -
Thanks Anthony, DNS at Registrar is fine. I needed to know what I had to change in WHM/CPanel to correctly use the registrar's DNS. I needed the full DNS solution because script on the web site could potentially use services on other sub-domains which are external to the web server and these would need to be resolved correctly. Yes, selecting "Remote Mail Exchanger" will ensure local email is correctly routed to the remote mail server. Thank you. 0
