Re-sizing fields within a table

Can anyone help me with re-sizing the width of a field within a table?

I can drag the bottom right corner of an existing field and temporarily change the width/height of a field .... But there is no "save" button. 

So after I add an entry and go to add another entry, the size of the fields default back.
